Doing the happy dance!

When you have a special needs child that learns and develops slower than the average child, you learn to celebrate every accomplishment. So the latest thing I have been trying to do is get Taylor to use the potty instead of going in her pants.

We did the pull up thing. Yea well she thought of those as diapers. So that did not work. Even with taking her to the potty for a long time and offering treats if she would even try to sit on the potty. That was a struggle in itself, just getting her to sit on the potty.

We have talked to her about it. Her Grandma asked her when she was going to start using the potty because big girls don't go in their pants. She said really snotty "I am not" then stuck out her tongue at Grandma. Also she got to where she would go potty in the pull up take it off throw it away then come to me for a new one. She would hold it as long as she could as well.

I have now said "enough" and put her in underwear. Which she has been using like a diaper as well. She has been creating a full load of laundry for me every day now for several weeks. Well every day it gets a little better. Today we had more success than accidents and that is why I am doing the happy dance. I am so excited for her, and me! NO MORE DIAPERS!!!

Yep, what we mother's of special needs kids truly find amazing!!
